Who is there like you, the God who removes guilt and pardons sin for the remnant of his inheritance; who does not persist in anger forever, but delights rather in clemency, and will again have compassion on us, treading underfoot our guilt? You will cast into the depths of the sea all our sins; (Micah 7:18-19)
But now we must celebrate and rejoice, because your brother was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.(Luke 15:32)
Have you ever feel so lost that you are afraid of coming back to God?
When I heard news about suicide, my heart was broken. I thought why did those people chosen that path? Why don’t they believe that there’s always be another way than suicide? Why don’t they believe that God is kind and merciful, even when our sins seem unrepentant.
I am a sinner also. Even I have commit the worst sin ever: it is pride. The reason why I think pride is the worst sin is because pride makes us separated from God. Pride covers the genuine truth. Pride makes us feel holier and better than anyone else; it is when we ended become blind to the real love. I felt that I am a good person and my opinion is the right one. I cannot do “hate the sin but love the sinner”. I was unconscious that the truth is, I cannot hear God’s voice because of my pride I cannot hear people shouting to the Lord, asking for forgiveness and love. I was blind to the need of others: the need of love and forgiveness. I give them heavy burdens instead of lighten theirs. After all the spiritual experiences, I realized that it was people like me who made more people choose suicide than live and repent.
A lot of people are starving of love. It was like Mother Teresa saying, “The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.”
As a Christian, we often forget that God’s ultimate calling for us is to love each other. It is above any other laws God has commanded us. How can we love if we keep judging others? As fir the sinner, please, I beg you, don’t give up. Do not give up on life. Yes there might be people who reject you, there might be people who discriminate you because of your sin, but there are also people who will welcome you with their open arms. Moreover, please do believe that God never give up on you. There’s no sin so big that God cannot forgive.
Today’s readings reminded us that God is kind. As God’s followers, it is our duty to present God’s love for others. Let the world see and feel God’s kindness through our lives. When we’re falling into temptation, don’t ever give up on God’s kindness. In the Gospel, we knew that there were two of Jesus’s disciples who betrayed Him. They were Peter and Judas. However, they chosen different path. Peter didn’t give up on God’s love, where Judas did. As the result, Peter was earth-shatteringly used as one of the most important apostles in the Christianity history.
May God bless us with more faith, hope, and love, and also an understanding that God is kind. God bless you.
