Your Will be Done

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

We might memorize the “Our Father” prayer very well, but have we prayed it well?

Since I was in school, I was taught to memorize the prayer of “Our Father”. We prayed it everyday in school. No wonder any child even if they’re not a Christian, remember this prayer well until they’re grown up. Since I was a child, I only pray as I memorize the words. I wasn’t be able to pray with all my heart, make each words of the prayer really meaningful. However, I think it doesn’t matter since God love the children 😁😁😁.

Well, as I grown up, I started to learn why should I pray this same prayer everyday? How “powerful” this prayer and how much it’ll impact my life? As I learn more, I started to understand the meaning of each words in the prayer. One of the most difficult part for me to pray is this part, “Your will be done”. I’ve been struggling with this phrase for years, since I was still afraid of what will happen if I put all of my life in God’s will. Am I going to have a suffering? Should I experience pain? The fear of facing God’s will has disturbed me so long.

Although I’m still struggling with it until present, I can say that at least I understand that God’s will should be the best thing happened for me. In one occasion, I was very relieved when a teacher said to us, “What is God’s will? You can answer it from the next phrase in the “Our Father” prayer. Yes, it’s ‘On earth as it is in heaven’.” This relieved me because I know that God’s will is to make paradise, but when I see the reality, I became confused. Why do people suffer? Isn’t it God’s will to make a paradise on earth? Why there’s suffering in this paradise? I cannot understand it fully, even until now.

The first reading from Isaiah tells us that God’s word never come in vain. God’s words will accomplish Thy will and make prosperity in which God send it. Now I think, does anything happened for God’s sake? I was wondering about this for long. Thank God that during my reflections, God reminds me and shows me that God’s will is actually the best thing happened for me. It’s true that everything should happened according to God’s will, but the ultimate purpose of God’s will is actually, for human goodness. Believe it or not.

I cannot explain why things should happened, why people suffer, why there is wars, diseases, death, starving, etc. I definitely cannot answer that, because I’m not god 😁. What can I say is, if we really believe that God is the Only Ultimate Power in this universe, if God is Love, if God knows everything…then I just have to rely my life in God’s will, because He must know the best route for me, much better than myself.

Even when life seems to hard, time ran so fast, people seems unforgiven, crimes and disease spreads everywhere, remember this: God is The Only Ultimate Power in the universe. God is Love. God is Good. God has will, which should be the best will for every human being in this earth.

I cannot force anyone to believe this, because I know it’s hard to believe when our situation is not good. However, I can only pray that God always remind us to put our faith in Him. May God bless us, giving us more faith, hope, and love everyday, especially during the hard times we have in our life. God bless you 😊.
